Texas Board of Legal Specialization

The Texas Board Of Legal Specialization is an organization authorized by the Supreme Court of Texas and charged with certifying attorneys in 21 specific areas of law. Some say there over 80,000 attorneys practicing law in the state of Texas, however, less than 10% of those practicing law in the state of Texas are recognized as expert Board-Certified specialist in their field.

Organized at the request of the State Bar of Texas in 1974, the Texas Board of Legal Specialization® is the only organization based in Texas that is legally authorized to award certifications in specialty areas of law. Galveston criminal lawyer Tad Nelson earned his board certification in criminal law within five years of starting his law practice which is the earliest that an attorney can be certified as an expert.

American Trial Lawyers Association

Texas State Bar Association

The goal of the State Bar of Texas is to serve the public, its members, and to ensure high standards/conduct of attorneys who are its members. Another mission of the State Bar of Texas is to ensure all citizens equal access to justice and to educate the public about the rule of law in addition to the promotion of diversity in the administration of justice and the practice of law.

The State Bar of Texas is the fifth largest organization of lawyers in the United States and was founded as a result of the State Bar Act; legislation as adopted in 1939. The State Bar Act commands that all attorneys licensed to practice law in the state of Texas be members of the State Bar.

Texas Trial Lawyers Association

The Texas Trial Lawyers Association is a member organization comprised of plaintiff’s attorneys who meet our membership criteria. Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association

The purpose of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association is to protect and ensure, by rule of law, that individual citizen rights guaranteed by the Texas and Federal Constitutions are upheld in criminal cases. Another goal of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association is to resist constant efforts that are being made to eliminate the constitutional rights of Texans and Americans.

We also encourage cooperation between attorneys engaged in the accomplishment of these objectives through educational programs and other assistance. Through such corporation and education we expect this assistance to promote justice and the common good.

Galveston County Criminal Lawyers Association

The purpose of the Galveston County Criminal Lawyer’s Association is to promote justice and the common good and otherwise further the common goals, interest and education of the criminal defense bar of Galveston County, Texas. Learn More

Galveston County Bar Association

Founded in 1846, the Galveston County Bar Association is a voluntary association of attorneys practicing in Galveston County, Texas. The GCBA is dedicated to: (1) advancing the professionalism and legal skills of lawyers; (2) promoting the interests of the legal profession; (3) providing member services, and  (4) promoting community service.

College of the State Bar of Texas

National College for DUI Defense

The National College Of DUI Defense is an educational association of and by DUI & DWI lawyers that is focused on improving the criminal defense bar and protecting the rights of persons accused of criminal offenses by the government. Attorneys who are member lawyers of the NCDD can be considered experts in fighting criminal charges related to driving under the influence of drugs and/or driving while intoxicated (drunk driving).
